Caño Island Biological Reserve / Tour Isla del Caño
Full Day snorkeling tour
Duración del Tour: 7 horas
Grado de dificultad: fácil / easy
Description:
Our day starts at 8:00am, leaving from Sierpe town. At 8:00, we’ll take the boat (30 minutes) down the Sierpe River passing through the largest conservation area of mangrove swamps in Central America, which is considered as RAMSAR site (one of the most important habitats in the world). While enjoying your boat trip, be sure to keep your eyes open to see the crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, and the water birds which are frequently sighted throughout the area. After the river take-out, we’ll continue on the sea through the breathtaking beauty of Drake’s Bay on our way to Caño Island Biological Reserve. Once we reach our destination, we’ll take a plunge under water into what is considered as the second best spot for diving and snorkeling in Costa Rica. Caño Island is inhabited by playful dolphins and whales (subject to season), spectacular schools of coral reef fish, manta rays, and white tip sharks.
After a morning of snorkeling, we’ll set up the tables and enjoy a picnic lunch at the beach. We’ll then have time to take a hike inside the island trails, to see the archeological sites, or do some more snorkeling.
Leaving the island around 2:30pm, we’ll make our way back to Sierpe around 4:30pm.
Please bring: Sun Block, Extra change of clothes, Bathing suits, Sandals.
